Job Description:

Overview of Position
Rafiki Coalition seeks Behavioral Health Clinicians to join the team at the Balboa Teen Health Center, serving students at Balboa High School. In this role, you will provide both short-term counseling and longer-term therapy, with an emphasis on supporting Black/African American and Latin/Hispanic students and promoting student wellness. The clinician will work closely with  supervisors, school staff, and medical providers to coordinate care, offer individual and family support, and create a safe, culturally affirming space for students to thrive.

Individuals gaining hours for licensure are encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide behavioral health assessments, short-term evidence-based interventions, and therapy for Balboa High School students and San Francisco youth (ages 12-24).
  • Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessments as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff, medical providers, caregivers, and community partners to coordinate care.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group interventions, with an emphasis on culturally affirming support for Latin/Hispanic and Black/African American students.
  • Refer patients to community resources and specialty behavioral health services when appropriate.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with licensure and regulatory standards.

  • Attend SF Department of Public Heath and Rafiki Coalition trainings, meetings, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain continuing education, licensure, and training requirements.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and data collection.
  • Contribute to clinic-wide efforts to build a culturally affirming, student-centered environment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in team huddles, clinic meetings, and SFUSD/Balboa High School meetings as assigned.
  • Attend DPH and Rafiki Coalition trainings, meetings, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain continuing education, licensure, and training requirements.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and data collection.
  • Contribute to clinic-wide efforts to build a culturally affirming, student-centered environment.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology, MFT, Counseling, Social Work, or related field from an accredited university.
  • Current California BBS or Board of Psychology license/registration.
  • Minimum 3 years' direct experience providing behavioral health counseling to diverse, underserved populations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to provide brief, evidence-based interventions in medical or primary care settings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and standard computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Black/African American communities and/or adolescent youth.
  • Bilingual in one of San Francisco's threshold languages.
  • Group facilitation and school-based services experience.
  • Commitment to reducing health disparities and supporting anti-racist organizational goals.

FLSA Status: Exempt (Monday-Friday, 40 hrs./week)
100% Onsite
Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 annually, based upon experience and funding.
