We are seeking a Certified Coding Specialist proficient in EPIC software to join our team on a temporary basis, with the opportunity for permanent placement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records for outpatient and inpatient services using ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding guidelines. This role involves coding for various departments including Laboratory, Radiology, and outpatient surgeries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and medical necessity.

Responsibilities:

• Code outpatient encounters across departments such as Laboratory, WLX Laboratory, Radiology, WLX Radiology, and CC Radiology using ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding guidelines.
• Assign codes for inpatient charts, including outpatient surgeries, inpatient OB, and general inpatient coding.
• Add professional fees to outpatient surgery codes as required.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians’ offices and billing departments to resolve coding-related issues and ensure accurate reimbursement.
• Conduct follow-up with physicians to clarify diagnoses and ensure completeness of medical records.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

• Certification as a Medical Coding Specialist (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or equivalent) required.
• Proficiency in EPIC software is essential.
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding principles.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers and staff.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
