Reports to: Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager, & Director of Clean Services FLSA: Full-time (40 hours/week), Non-exempt (hourly) plus benefits Salary: $22.00 per hour Sunday - Thursday (Friday/Saturday off) Friday - Tuesday (Wednesday/Thursday off) Wednesday - Sunday (Monday/Tuesday off) - Valid Driver's License required for this schedule 2nd Shift (1:30 pm - 10:00 pm): Friday - Tuesday (Wednesday/Thursday off) - Valid Driver's License required for this schedule Location: Downtown San Diego area Why this job? - Benefits Set Schedules (have the same 2 days off every week) Medical Coverage; Dental Coverage; Vision Coverage Discounted MTS Transit Pass (only $21 per month) Earn up to 15 days of Paid Vacation annually 5 days of Paid Sick Time annually 401K Plan (eligible after 6 months of employment) Employee Assistance Program Position Summary Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager (OM), and Director of Maintenance Services, Maintenance Ambassadors will provide maintenance services within the Clean & Safe’s 275 block service area of Downtown San Diego. Neighborhoods within this service area include Cortez Hill, Columbia, Marina, City Center, East Village, and the Gaslamp Quarter. Every Maintenance Ambassador is responsible for one of these neighborhoods, where they provide maintenance services and serve as the neighborhood’s liaison. Duties include sweeping, trash removal, doggy bag dispenser refill, tree trimming, pressure washing, graffiti, gum, and sticker removal. Essential Job Functions & Duties 90% Remove graffiti and stickers on public property, such as stops signs, light poles, sidewalks, and utility boxes. Enhance street furniture and tree grates by cleaning, painting, and de-odorizing the surfaces. Sweep and mop sidewalks and curbs, including removing human and animal waste Lift heavy trash bags (up to 50 lbs.) and empty public trash receptacles Pick up any illegally dumped trash reported by businesses or property owners Perform landscape maintenance, which involves raking leaves and removing weeds Respond to maintenance calls from businesses and property owners Provide excellent customer service assistance with residents, business owners, tourists, and patrons Participate daily line-ups and safety readings/stretches for of maintenance personnel Conduct daily inspections of equipment before and after use Compile daily statistics using Eponic work logs, recording completed work orders Complete quarterly training under the direction of Shift Supervisor Perform other tasks as assigned by Executive Director, Director of Maintenance Services, Operations Manager, and Shift Supervisor. Administrative Tasks 10% Adhere to all local, state, federal guidelines and laws. Outstanding customer service skills, in person and electronically (radio/ phone) Strong verbal communication and listening skills Ability to speak, read, and write in English. The 24/7 Operations consists of maintenance services along the public right of way, beautification efforts along with security and outreach services. This includes sweeping, trash removal, doggy bag dispenser refill, tree trimming, pressure washing, graffiti, gum, and sticker removal. The Clean & Safe Operations is committed to providing great customer service along with providing a cleaner and safer downtown to our stakeholders and residents. In all, these programs provide an annual contractual budget of approximately $13 million annually.
