About the Role:

The Depot Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods between the depot and various delivery points within Greenville and surrounding areas. This position requires a dependable individual who can manage vehicle operations safely while adhering to scheduled routes and delivery timelines. The Depot Driver is responsible for maintaining the condition of the vehicle, performing routine inspections, and reporting any maintenance needs to ensure operational reliability. Additionally, the role involves interacting professionally with customers and depot staff to facilitate smooth loading and unloading processes. Ultimately, the Depot Driver contributes to the overall supply chain effectiveness by delivering goods accurately and on time, supporting the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class operated.
• Proven experience as a driver, preferably in a depot or delivery environment.
• Good knowledge of Greenville area roads and traffic regulations.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy packages safely.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company driving policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with route planning and time management to optimize delivery efficiency.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
• Basic vehicle maintenance skills to perform minor repairs or adjustments.
• Customer service experience to handle delivery interactions professionally.
• Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.

Responsibilities:

• Operate company vehicles to transport goods from the depot to designated delivery locations within Greenville and nearby areas.
• Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring that all items are handled with care to prevent damage.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, depot personnel, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues.

Skills:

The Depot Driver utilizes strong navigational skills daily to follow efficient routes and meet delivery deadlines. Attention to detail is essential when inspecting vehicles and handling cargo to ensure safety and prevent damage. Effective communication skills are employed when coordinating with dispatch and customers to provide updates and resolve delivery issues. Physical stamina and safe lifting techniques are necessary for managing heavy or bulky items during loading and unloading. Additionally, familiarity with technology such as GPS devices and electronic logs enhances route accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
