Key Responsibilities: As an
Industrial Sewing Machine Operator , you will:
- Review & Inspect: Review quality/damage reports for incoming gear, Perform needed repairs to ensure uniforms are up to safety standards when returned to local fire departments.
- Safe Independent Work: Learn to complete tasks safely and independently
- Consistent Output: Ensure all items are processed efficiently each day, maintaining consistency with good turn-around time to keep our local fire-fighters fully-equipped.
- Operate Machinery: Operate an industrial-level sewing machine capable of handling high-volume, highly-durable PPE material
Expected Results: - Daily Goals: Complete tasks efficiently by stated deadlines, complete all documentation and reporting thoroughly and correctly.
- Knowledge Retention: Retain and apply knowledge from previous workdays to ensure consistency and efficiency in processing.
Experience Required: - Sewing Proficiency: Skill and experience in sewing (including mending, pocket repair/replacement, and seam ripping) is required . High-level of preference given to those with professional sewing experience
- Production/Manufacturing Familiarity: Machine operation/Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required
Qualities Required: - Accurate Reporting: Documentation is essential for this position to ensure all processes are being completed thoroughly and accurately
- Attention to Detail: Focus on precision and adherence to production requirements. Lacking attention to detail can result in PPE returning to the field with substandard repairs, which endangers the wearers.
Physical Requirements: - Manual Labor: Work is performed at a seated station in a shop with HVAC. Ability to move around the shop periodically is needed.
- Lifting Ability: May be required to lift up to 50lbs occasionally, but not consistently.
Equipment Used: - iPad/Tablet: Use of company-owned electronic devices to facilitate documentation and reporting in accordance with local, state, and federal safety standards
