POSITION SUMMARY:

The Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer provides hands-on technical support across IT and OT environments, including network infrastructure, security, applications, and field systems. This role supports senior resources in maintaining infrastructure reliability, troubleshooting technical issues, assisting with documentation, and helping ensure compliance with industry standards. The position requires strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in both office and field settings.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Networking and Security
  
  
  
  • Assist with troubleshooting data and communication network issues, including cellular, satellite, and radio (e.g., SIM card swaps, modem setup, and IP assignments).
  
  
  • Help monitor network health, performance, and traffic under the guidance of senior resources.
  
  
  • Support firewall administration tasks, including basic configuration updates and monitoring alerts, ensuring alignment with security best practices and organizational goals.
  
  
  • Assist in implementing security controls on new or existing systems as directed.
  
  
  • Help maintain cybersecurity standards, procedures, and documentation for IT and OT systems.
  
  
  • Perform quarterly patching, firmware upgrades, and support cybersecurity in OT upgrades and capital projects.
  
  
  • Participate in R&D and compliance validation activities by gathering information and testing solutions.
  
  
  • Assist with site visits for audits, incident response, and remediation tasks as needed.
  
  
  • Provide end-user support for IT and OT systems and maintain related documentation.
  
  


• Infrastructure and Systems Support
  
  
  
  • Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining IT hardware, including servers, network devices, and Azure resources.
  
  
  • Help update network diagrams, system architecture documentation, and step by step guides.
  
  
  • Follow and document troubleshooting and escalation procedures.
  
  
  • Identify recurring issues and propose potential solutions while escalating more complex problems to senior resources.
  
  


• Field Support and Management
  
  
  
  • Support inventory tracking and licensing for field and OT devices.
  
  
  • Assist with monitoring the performance of control systems to ensure operational status and compliance.
  
  
  • Help configure VPNs, radios, and cellular devices used in field networking.
  
  
  • Travel to satellite offices, warehouses, and remote field sites to assist with IT and OT support.
  
  


• Collaboration and Communication
  
  
  
  • Work closely with the IT Infrastructure Lead and Business System Manager to support infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.
  
  
  • Document tasks performed and communicate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
  
  
  • Execute assigned tasks independently with minimal direction.
  
  


• Works Monday-Friday schedule with extended hours to support 24/7 operations, including on-call rotation covering nights/weekends/holidays.


• Up to 15% travel

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

• 1+ years of experience with: Networking, Identity Access Management (IAM), Group Policy Object (GPO), O365, and Azure.


• Hands-on experience with IT equipment setup and configuration.


• Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, and network monitoring tools.


• Knowledge of wireless networking standards, access points, and wireless security protocols.


• Proficiency in diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve network issues.


• Strong organizational skills and ability to document work clearly.


• Willingness to answer after-hours calls when on rotation.


• Ability to travel across Texas-area field locations.

Preferred

• 1+ year of exposure to cybersecurity practices.


• Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.


• Experience in designing and implementing network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN configurations.

• Operations Technology network operation and setup.
