Night Shift RN – Obstetrics

Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15

We are seeking a versatile Registered Nurse to join our busy Labor & Delivery unit for night shift coverage. Our team provides comprehensive obstetric and newborn care, and the ideal candidate will be confident in managing multiple areas of OB practice. Due to our rural area, adaptability is necessary. Skilled nursing across the spectrum of obstetric and newborn care.

Responsibilities include:

• Caring for laboring patients, including inductions
• Providing postpartum care
• Newborn care and assessment
• Triage of incoming OB patients
• All newborn responsibilities, including deliveries and postnatal support
• We do have staff on orientation, they may have a nurse following them on shift

Staffing:

• 2 RNs and 1 CNA per shift
• One RN manages labor/inductions
• The other RN covers postpartum care, assists with deliveries (“catch baby”), and triages patients
• Float to Med/Surg occasionally (no patient load unless OB is closed)

Unit Details:

• ~25 deliveries per month
• Deliveries at 36+ weeks gestation
• Pediatrician present at all deliveries
• NRP required (we do have an instructor in-house and she gives classes once a month)
• STABLE certification and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required
• Option for on-call shifts (labor nurse always in-house)
