Responsibilities

FT Monday to Friday, ~8Am to ~5PM and on-site at 8340 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Lakewood Ranch, FL. Busy cardiac care practice.

 

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to and consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

 

Day to Day Activities:

1. Confirming, Print orders, Sending list to Lynn for doses and entering templates for stress testing (once a week)
2. Regulating INR’s for the office (this includes home testers, lab testers) Calling patients to review results and manage their dosing, telling them when to retest (10-30 per day)
1. Keeping track of who is overdue for testing and calling them to remind them to test
2. Place Orders for their next INR and send to lab or dispatch to lab
3. Calling test results that the physicians send you
4. Applying holters and MCOT’s as needed per physician orders
5. Downloading Holters, entering diary for patient
6. Doing nurse evals/ekg’s/site checks/Walk-ins
7. Cardiac clearances
8. Refills
9. Prior Auths for medications
10. Tasks
11. Assist RN’s with calling normal results
12. Covering MA’s for lunches
13. Covering for MA is they are out and were scheduled at the LWR location.
14. Back up for RN after she leaves at 3:30
15. Fill in with helping RN is they are off (i.e listen to voicemail and task out anything that is above the LPN scope of practice to the RN)

Qualifications

Education :

• Completion of LPN/LVN nursing training from an accredited school of nursing; Minimum of one (1) year college or Technical School; Associates Degree preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Current state registered license for LPN/LVN

Work experience :

• Minimum of one (1) year working as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse required

Knowledge :

• General medical office procedures

Skills :

• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Abilities:

• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions

Equipment operated:

• Office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and telephone system
• EKG machine
• Computer

Work environment :

• Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment
• May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
• May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
• Occasionally subject to irregular hours
• Travel to other facilities as requested
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary

Mental/Physical Requirements:

• Must be ability to handle emergency or crisis situation
• Must be able to see with corrective eye wear

Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
