The Nursing Assistant carries out all assignments given by the Registered Nurse, is accountable for all patient care given during a shift, is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and for promoting teamwork among co-workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n\t
• Assist patients with all aspects of personal hygiene (bathing, shaving, oral care, giving and removing bedpan or urinal, etc.)
\n\t
• Ensures patients dietary needs are met Assist with serving trays, assists with completion of menus, provides snacks as needed and provides fluids.
\n\t
• Provides a safe and comfortable environment.
\n\t
• Obtains specimens as needed by MD, per Charge nurse instructions.
\n\t
• Takes vital signs accurately at prescribed times.
\n\t
• Turns and positions patients.
\n\t
• Accurate documentation of intake and output.
\n\t
• Responsible for the following treatments:
\n\t
• finger stick glucometer
\n\t
• hot and cold compresses
\n\t
• simple dressing
\n\t
• perineal care
\n\t
• post mortem care
\n\t
• weights
\n\t
• Adheres to infection control standards.
\n\t
• Monitors IVs in conjunction with co-assigned nurse and Charge nurse.
\n\t
• Reports any changes in patients condition promptly to charge nurse.
\n\t
• Documentation of care in patient record, i.e. flow sheet.
\n\t
• Utilizes good communication skills, answers the phone in a professional manner.
\n\t
• Assist in Quality improvement program.
\n\t
• Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

\n\t
• No experience required
\n

EDUCATION:

\n\t
• High School or equivalent preferred.
\n

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

\n\t
• Current CPR certification
\n
