Job Description

Cenveo is a leading North American manufacturer of envelopes with over 100 years of experience, producing approximately 30 billion envelopes annually. We are hiring immediately for an experienced Production Scheduler for our Dallas, Texas facility.

A High School diploma, or equivalent and a minimum of five years of scheduling experience is required.

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in a production environment. This candidate will have excellent communication, organizational and mathematical skills to effectively schedule production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Summary

Schedules and monitors manufacturing machines to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Examines equipment capacity/capability, finishing requirements and material transit time to create an efficient, cost-effective schedule that results in on-time delivery.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

* *Analyzes requested schedules to determine machine requirements necessary to meet delivery needs and forecast manufacturing workload.

* * Schedules all production work into available machine times considering machine capabilities, staffing, volume and product specifications.

* * Coordinates availability of raw materials and machinery before finalizing schedule.

* *Generates scheduling and machine efficiency reports as required.

* *Conducts daily or weekly scheduling meetings to develop accurate and timely scheduling of jobs.

* *Coordinates and adjusts schedules for preventative maintenance, overhauls, inspections and other shutdown period of machinery.

* *Communicates current order status and machine time availability to customer service and management.

* *Coordinate workflow for overloads or too little work. Notify manufacturing departments to recruit overtime personnel if necessary.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions

Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

* May produce control charts and graphs.

* May purchase raw materials needed to produce jobs (cartons, pallets, paper, ink, etc.).

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

* Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. 21% to 50% of work time.

* Incumbent constantly required to hear, speak and articulate.

* Incumbent regularly required to use manual dexterity and sit for prolonged periods of time.

* Incumbent occasionally required to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, grasp, reach, carry and use color vision.

  • Requires technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Typically possesses 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years scheduling experience.
  • Performs work that is complex and varied in nature. Defines and discerns key aspects of a problem and develops and integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant impact. May provide guidance/training to more junior staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of printing processes, production and purchasing.
  • Strong PC skills including Office Software packages and the Internet.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and numerical data. Ability to write simple reports and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and employees.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
