First Response Rail Service is currently looking to fill an open position for a Welder & Fabricator with our Railcar Repair Division in Emporia Virginia. Performing repairs to railcars. The Basic Purpose of the position:

• You will perform repairs to Railcars.
• The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and welding background.
• Welding experience with stick and FCAW is required. Weld test will be given.
• The candidate must be a dependable and safety-conscious person.
• We would prefer someone with previous railcar repair experience but not required.
• Safety is the number 1 priority with First Response Rail Services, so it is vital that all company guidelines and safety rules are followed and met while on the job.

Responsibilities:

• Perform authorized welding repairs up to customer and AAR specifications
• Operate various types of mechanical equipment including all terrain vehicles and forklifts etc.

Experience Requirements:

· Welding experience required, at least 1 year, a welding test will be administered. 

· Torch cutting experience required

· Strong Mechanical background

· Ability to use basic hand tools 

Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:

· Ability to constantly use bending, squatting, twisting, and walking motions throughout the entire work shift

· Must be able to work independently

· Ability to occasionally climb, using various types of ladders.

· Ability to constantly work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions
