Summary:
The Labor & Delivery RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during the intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum phases. This role requires experience in circulating for C-sections, assisting with high-risk deliveries, and managing both routine and emergent L&D situations. The nurse will be part of a collaborative team delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care throughout the labor and delivery process, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
Circulate in operating rooms for C-sections and assist with other obstetric procedures (e.g., cervical cerclage, D&C).
Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate tracings; recognize and intervene for abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
Administer and monitor medications including magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, and antihypertensives.
Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and neonatal staff during deliveries and emergencies.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments and interventions.
Educate and support patients and families throughout the birthing process.
Ensure compliance with hospital safety protocols, infection control, and professional standards of care.
Shift: 3x12 Day, 07:00 19:30.
Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per 2-week pay period.
RTO: All time-off requests must be submitted with initial profile.
Must be able to circulate in C-sections .
No first-time travelers (must be experienced).
Pending state license not accepted.
Travel pairs not accepted.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent L&D nursing experience HARDSTOP .
Travel experience required HARDSTOP .
High-risk obstetrics experience preferred.
License & Certifications:
Active RN License (State of Washington required).
BLS (Required).
ACLS (Required).
NRP (Required).
AWHONN Intermediate (Required).
AWHONN Advanced (Preferred).
Skills:
Labor & Delivery: vaginal deliveries, high-risk delivery assistance, circulating for C-sections.
Medication Administration: magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, antihypertensives.
Fetal Monitoring: recognition/treatment of abnormal FHR, external fetal monitoring.
Procedures: cervical cerclage, D&C.
Work Settings: high-risk antepartum, labor & delivery, fetal monitoring.
Strong patient advocacy, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
