A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

A Volunteer Coordinator will develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation programs. Recruits and educates volunteer candidates from at least three recruitment sessions a year. Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains quarterly metrics. Re-evaluate volunteer program as necessary. Coordinate support/education meeting. Attends interdisciplinary group meetings. Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer service. Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement. Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

• College degree, advanced degree in human service preferred.
• Minimum two years' experience in health care setting. Hospice or volunteer experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patients and organizational needs.
• Understands hospice philosophy.
• Ability to manage a group of individuals volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
